Emily Morton

Emily Morton is an elementary technology facilitator in Round Rock ISD in Texas and a technology consultant for Project E-Teach for the Regional Education Center. Although this is her first year as a technology facilitator, she embraced technology as a tool since she began teaching in 1993 as a tool for efficiency in the classroom and for motivating students.

Emily has a background in early childhood education and ESL. She has taught preschool and kindergarten children for six years. She has also taught informal classes for the University of Texas as a local naturalist.

In addition to her professional life, Emily is a dedicated mother of two active teenagers. They approach life as an adventure with their mother and act as a valuable resource in Ms. Morton’s ongoing quest to improve as an educator.

The family volunteers to lead bike rides for Trips for Kids, a project Emily helped to establish in Austin. As a founding coordinator she wrote the training manual for ride leaders. This project takes inner city youth on mountain biking trips in local parks. The project promotes positive self-esteem and an appreciation of nature.

Ms. Morton will graduate this May with a Masters in Educational Administration from Southwest Texas University.
