Poetry by Jamie McKenzie

Friday Night Special

Street singer
You sing too softly
For the street
And the crowd passing by

The street sounds
And city sounds
Drown out the soft sounds
And yet you sing
As if you know the price

The ice cream parlor
The balloons
The card shop
And the news stand
These draw the crowd
Passing by
A Friday night special

Street singer
You sing the blues
Too softly
For the street
And the crowd passing by
