The Bargain

Standing at roadside
Twenty-five cents
Was small price to pay
For daffodils
Brightly yellow

But the picking
Judging from bare spots
And a need for paint
Must have been
Costly

I hurried past
Aging house
Faded curtains
Wobbly table
And daffodils
Fresh picked
