The Lockdown Blues

I got those mind-numbing
Cabin fever
Stuck-at-home
Lockdown blues

Staring out the window
I see nothing but empty streets
And some gulls
Or pigeons
Free-wheeling across a gloomy sky

Got those oh so tiresome
Boring and monotonous
Corona virus
Lockdown blues

I spend my days cooking
Reading
Eating and pacing
Back and forth
With no place to go

Got those seemingly endless
Repetitive
Home sheltering
Lockdown blues

Strumming my Martin
I play the same old songs
I’ve always played
The steel strings
And my neighbors
Growing weary of my lament

Got those it cannot be
Happening to me again
To me again
To me again
Lockdown blues
